The Pollinating Peace Project stands as a testament to the beauty of both biodiversity and multiculturalism. This unique garden, established in the spring of 2025, not only provides a vital habitat for pollinating insects but also gracefully acknowledges the diverse origins of our Newcomer Learners by featuring Newfoundland-adapted plants that evoke some national flowers of students' home countries.
This ambitious endeavor was made possible through the generous funding support of The Wellness Coalition, Learning for a Sustainable Future, and The Climate Collective. We are particularly indebted to Memorial University's Botanical Gardens and SucSeed Newfoundland, whose expert botanical advice was crucial in ensuring the thriving success of our chosen flora.
École St. Matthew's School extends sincere appreciation to the Association for New Canadians and Sharing Our Cultures. Their dedicated sensitivity training and ongoing support have been invaluable throughout the academic year, helping us to foster a truly inclusive environment.
We proudly recognize the significant contributions of our English as Additional Language students and their dedicated EAL teacher, Ms. Laura Martin. Their research was foundational to the project's development.
Finally, our deepest gratitude goes to our parent volunteers. Their unwavering hands-on commitment and tireless efforts were instrumental in transforming this meaningful vision into a vibrant reality.
We're growing together at École St. Matthew's School!
